Giacomo Allegrini

Giacomo Allegrini is head of the Oncology Unit and of the Medical Oncology Unit of the Azienda Toscana Nord Ovest, at the “Felice Lotti” hospital in Pontedera (Pisa). He is a member of the Gruppo Oncologico Nord-Ovest (GONO).

He graduated in medicine at the University of Pisa in 1995, and obtained his specialization in oncology in 1999 at the University of Genoa. From 18 January 1999 to 30 December 1999 he worked at the Pharmacology Unit directed by Prof. Paolo Calabresi, Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island, United States), before returning to Italy to work in the Medical Oncology Department of the Livorno hospital (January 2000 – October 2008). He specialized in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Pisa in 2006.

Doctor Allegrini’s translational and clinical research focuses mainly on breast and colorectal cancers. He has published more than 40 publications in international journals and is part of the editorial board of several journals. He is a member of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), and of the Italian College of Primary Hospital Oncologists (CIPOMO). He is also the coordinator of the Tuscany Section of CIPOMO since 2012.
